3 new Low-cost Android Tablets Are going to hit The US Market

Posted on 29 July 2011 by Android

The U.S. tablet market isn’t all about the big-name companies and their $400+ tablets, there is a market for cheaper models and there are quite a few companies that realize this. In fact soon three different companies will be able to ship their affordable tablets the hungry US market.Recently Coby had their 7-inch Kyros MID7022 tablet pass through the FCC for certification, as well as Pandigital and their 9-inch SuperNova tablet, and Shenzhen Yifang Digital Technology with their 7-inch M722HC tablet.

All three tablets are powered by Google’s Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system, which is designed for smartphones but works well enough on low-resolution tablets. The Coby tablet offers a 7-inch 800-by-480 resolution capacitive touchscreen, the Pandigital has a 8-inch 800-by-600 res. capacitive touchscreen, and the Shenzhen tablet has a 7-inch 800-by-480 resolution capacitive touchscreen like the Coby.

The Coby tablet is the only model of the three that has been available on the market (online at least) and it’s been selling for very reasonable prices. Right now the tablet is being sold on eCrater.com for $204.00 with 4GB of built-in storage and Wi-Fi. Also on eCrater the tablet can be shipped to the US for an extra $10, however if you order one now it’s unlikely you’ll be getting one with a FCC sticker.

If FCC approval is meaningless to you, I wouldn’t blame you, and you’re wondering how well this Coby tablet can do.
