eviGroup Wallet, a new Android Tablet PC should be available in May

Posted on 13 May 2010 by Android

The eviGroup android tablet nicely named “Wallet” is a 5-inch resistive touchscreen MID running Android in a similar way as the Archos 5 does. Based on the Samsung ARM11 processor, it will come short of the Archos 5 processing power. What it does have is a low price, a built-in camera and a semi-rugged design. It has not been confirmed yet but it might even have a 3G module in it. It was certainly announced in the specification sheet as having it.

If so, you’ve got a “Nokia N800 3G” running Android on a faster processor. The Archos is more focused on video while the Wallet is focused on mobile communications.

eviGroup have kindly sent out an email letting everyone know that the Wallet is going into production and will be available this month. The price? around 250$ US. For this price, you get the android tablet and “a lot of accessories”. Somehow, for such a low price, it is most likely that the 3G will not be included but let’s hope it is.

It would seem Google aren’t making it easy for OEMs to make full Android experience tablet as they do not let everyone run their application and have access to the Android Market. Will this go on for much longer? Let’s hope not.
