Hasn’t Asus learned anything from the Atrix? Generally, people don’t want to dock their phones inside of anything. Asus tends to not agree with this. At the recent Computex, they unveiled the rumored Padfone android tablet which has a special dock in the back in which you can place your smartphone. This type of docking between a smartphone and tablet is the first of its kind.
So, what does Asus have in mind when it comes to putting your smartphone inside a tablet? One of the main features is the tablet can charge the smartphone when its low on battery. The tablet itself can also benefit from the phone by using it for 3G internet access. Specs for the Padfone are still unknown yet beside the 10.1″ screen size and that it will be able to carry a 4.3″ smartphone on its backside.
Asus makes some amazing products, especially when it comes to laptops and netbooks. While they do get some credit for trying to think “outside of the box”, by producing an android tablet that isn’t one and the same like every other tablet out there – you still gotta be wondering, who would actually care about having this type of form-factor in their tablet?
