Viewsonic Vtablet 101 Android-Powered Tablet PC has been available for quite some time now in China. It should be hitting the US and UK soon, according to reports. The California-based Viewsonic company launched earlier this year its first ever tablet PC product in Beijing, China. Viewsonic is confident in its tablet pc and is hoping to compete favorably with Apple iPad Tablet PC.
Not much detail is available on the Vtablet 101 Android Tablet PC. Even Viewsonic’s website doesn’t mention anything about it yet. The Viewsonic Vtablet Chinese version has the following specification sheet: a 8.9-inch LVDS touchscreen display with a 1024×800 resolution, a 1 GHz ARM A9 SMP processor, nVidia Tegra 2, a front-facing camera which can be used for video chat using a Bluetooth headset, a rather small 4GB flash based built-in memory, 3D graphics capability, WiFi, Bluetooth, and 3G connectivity.
This tablet is being sold in China for a retail price of 3,000 Yuans or about 400$ US. It is a fair price for the features it is packing and because it’s an Android tablet PC, you can find a lot of applications and games to download from the web. Only downside is the 4GB built-in memory seems rather small, Viewsonic should offer a version with at least 8GB internal memory capacity. If they do this, I might just have to give the Viewsonic VTablet 101 a go.
Here is a demo I found showing the VTablet in action:
