THE SECOND VERSION of ZTE’s 7-inch Android tablet will be available in the UK in the second half of 2011.
The successor to ZTE’s first tablet named the Light, the Light2 will be available for UK consumers in the second half of this year, said ZTE. The current specifications given at a ZTE briefing in London today were somewhat limited, but what we do know is that the device will run Android 2.2 Froyo and will have a 1GHz processor.
Wu Sa, director of mobile devices at ZTE said that the company expects to make the device available in the UK in the second half of this year, with the aim of delivering it at the beginning of the third quarter.
The Light2 is a significant upgrade from ZTE’s first Light tablet, which runs Android 2.1 and has a 600MHz processor. The display will remain the same 7-inch touchscreen found on the Light with 800×480 resolution, but this time with capacitive technology.
Considering the specifications are so limited we can expect at least the same if not better than the first Light, which has a 3MP rear camera, a G Sensor, WiFi, Bluetooth. The Light tablet was out to play with at the briefing earlier today, and it made a good impression, so the Light2 looks set to be an even better device.
ZTE also had its latest smartphone, the Skate, on show today and gave The INQUIRER details about its 10-inch version of the Light tablet as well.
